Materiales educativos

We want to mobilise as many people and institutions as possible so, for this reason we have included an education for development component in our “Conflict-free Technology” campaign.

Our aim is to generate so much pressure from the public that their representatives in the European Parliament will feel obliged to support more effective regulation and companies will likewise feel compelled to take responsibility for their supply chains. In this way we hope to end the humanitarian tragedy of eastern DRC.

The campaign looks at the “extraction – manufacturing – marketing – recycling” cycle for electronic devices. This is a critical reflection on our own life style, consumption patterns and model of development and their links with mining and the people who both depend on and are harmed by mining. In so doing we raise fundamental questions about the human and environmental sustainability of our current international economic system.

The campaign also makes us aware of the way we use mobile phones in particular and technology in general, fostering responsible use, consumption and recycling.

At ALBOAN, we have prepared a set of training materials, targeting different sectors of the population (school children, students, adults), which encourage people to mobilise and take action. Here you can download the different worksheets to work on the campaign in the classroom with secondary students and/or volunteer groups.

Exhibition’s audioguide: What your mobile hides

This audioguide aims to provide information to understand the relationship between our way of life and the situations we see portrayed in the exhibition, composed of the photographs taken by the journalist Iván Benítez in the Rubaya mines of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

We propose an itinerary to see the photos in 12 blocks, associating each block to a specific theme. In addition to the audio guide, available on this website, for each of the blocks there are videos, infographics, didactic guides and complementary material associated with each topic.

File 02 – The path minerals take to our pockets and back

These minerals are hidden inside many of the products we use every day.
